Location

Discover the English language through active, academic and creative activities in a beautiful and friendly school – all year round. This elegant Victorian building, with its traditional courtyard garden, is set within 60 acres of English countryside, providing a safe and peaceful environment.

Activities

The activity programme is an integral part of the course and allows students to practise what they have learnt and develop a natural, fluent use of the language. Our afternoon activities – electives and Academy options – are designed to improve communication and confidence while developing academic, creative and active skills. All Summer Explorer students will also enjoy a wide variety of whole-school activities, such as games, competitions, discos and shows.

Accommodations

  • Boys and girls have separate accommodation blocks on campus, each with a dedicated houseparent to ensure 24/7 supervision and care throughout their time at the school.

  • Accommodation blocks are separate for boys and girls. 

  • Bedrooms are shared and can accommodate between two and five students.

  • All bedrooms contain bunk beds, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and chair.

  • Access to bathrooms are also separate for boys and girls, as well as for junior and senior courses.

  • There are shared showers and toilet facilities, which are situated at convenient points throughout the accommodation.

  • Bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned regularly, with fresh bed linen provided weekly.

  • Students are responsible for making sure their room is tidy and will have regular room inspections. There is a free laundry service for machine washable clothes once a week.

  • To ensure the highest level of safeguarding, there is a dedicated houseparent for each accommodation block, who is responsible for the care and welfare of students outside of the classroom.

  • All students will attend a daily house meeting led by their houseparent where they will have the opportunity to discuss what they have achieved and share any concerns.

Meals

  • Students are offered a choice of nutritious food at each mealtime; breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every menu includes a selection of hot and cold items including fresh fruit and vegetables. Packed lunches are provided on study tours.

  • Snacks are available during break times and at each evening house meeting. If your child has a dietary requirement associated to an allergy, please let us know so we can accommodate this.

Excursions

There is no better way to learn about British life and culture than to experience it for yourself.  Study tours also play an important role in our learning approach. Students prepare for their study tour in class and have educational tasks to complete during their trip, this is then discussed in lessons afterwards. They will have three-full day study tours to UK destinations, every two weeks. Students will also have the opportunity to add optional activities to enhance their experience. Enjoy study tours to exciting attractions like:

  • London Eye
  • Windsor Castle
  • Warwick Castle
  • Madame Tussauds Museum
  • Punting in Cambridge

Transportation

  • Care starts upon your child's UK arrival, managed by our Young Learners team for coordination and supervision on arrival and departure days.

  • Travel with your child directly to the school is an option, and we can arrange this.

  • Airport or station transfers, included in your package, operate from designated airports within scheduled times.

  • Free transfers available between 10 am and 5 pm, depending on student travel requirements.

  • Notify changes to departure dates at least 7 working days before your departure.

On this course, students will:

  • Gain confidence and become more independent learners and users of the English language
  • Develop their English language skills (reading writing, listening, and speaking)
  • Improve your vocabulary, pronunciation, and understanding of grammar
  • Essential 21st century life skills (communication, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and cultural awareness)
  • Produce a portfolio of work to demonstrate progress and achievements
  • Meet new friends from across the world

Project-based learning

Project themes have been intentionally designed for students and teachers to take their project in a direction that best meets the group’s needs and motivations. This means that every group of students will learn something different and each student receives a personalised learning experience. Each theme will have a central guiding question that focuses the project and students work collaboratively towards the production of a tangible project outcome. This approach helps students learning faster and more successfully. It also guarantees that students will learn something new every time.

Students choose 2 electives per week. Sample electives include:

  • British Sports
  • Health and Fitness
  • Football
  • Journalism
