Location

St. Hilda's College, Oxford, set on the River Cherwell banks, near city center.

What's Included

Our fees are all-inclusive, so the only additional costs to you should be flights, visas (where required) and spending money!

Accommodations

  • Key for integration and friendship, rooms allocated by gender, age, and mixed nationalities.

  • Focus on nourishing, varied meals catering to different nationalities, with vegetarian options and special diets accommodated if notified in advance.

  • Wi-Fi and technology available campus-wide; mobile phones and laptops encouraged for family contact.

  • Students' responsibility to secure their belongings; the boarding school is not liable for loss or damage.

  • At least two first aid trained staff at each center; basic medications available with parental permission.

  • Extra costs for doctor visits; non-UK residents not covered by NHS but included in program travel insurance (excess of £50).

  • Students must disclose regular medication or medical conditions on application.

  • Key Deposit: £50 required at St Hilda's College, collected in cash upon arrival and refunded at departure.

Excursions

Excursions designed to extend learning beyond the classroom.

  • Spectacular sights of Central London
  • London Eye,
  • Private university tours of Cambridge or Oxford Universities.
  • Promotes communication skills by testing English language proficiency with peers and the public.

Transportation

  • There is no fixed arrival time, however we do reccommend arriving in time for lunch or dinner, so between 12-5pm.

Arrival Assistance:

  • Complimentary Transfer: Available at London Heathrow (LHR) and London Gatwick (LGW) between 10am and 8pm. Submit flight details at least 1 week before.

  • Wait Time is up to 60 minutes for airports other than London Heathrow; up to 90 minutes for Heathrow arrivals.

  • Look for a Counsellor in a dark red polo shirt, holding a sign with your name.

  • Students grouped by arrival times for efficient transfers to the venue.

  • Full supervision in a comfortable setting to meet peers at Heathrow.

  • Light snacks and refreshments provided for Heathrow waits over 20 minutes.

Departure Assistance:

  • Staff accompany students to the airport and assist with check-in.

  • Planned in advance for timely arrival at the airport, minimizing extended waiting.

  • Coordinated to navigate check-in and security efficiently.

  • Continuous tracking of check-in, security wait times, and flight schedules to ensure timely airport arrival.

Private Transfers: If you arrive or depart outside of the complimentary transfer time, or to an airport not available at your venue, then a private transfer fee will apply.

Lesson Plan

  • Build accuracy and fluency in communicating in English in a variety of different academic and professional settings
  • Accelerated development in your confidence and knowledge of the English language
  • Build professional and academic skills through a wide range of selected electives including literature, business studies, drama, and more

Overview of syllabus:

Over the course of the summer, students will put their language skills into practice through varied learning styles, including:

  • Language Study: The syllabus focuses on contemporary English through topics specifically designed for junior learners. Language study supplies the building blocks students need to communicate successfully with native and non-native speakers.
  • Language in Use: Students are put in real-life situations to develop fluency and communication skills, building students' confidence and knowledge of English.
  • Excursion Link Lessons: Before full-day excursions, students learn about the destinations they are about to visit, including the history and culture of the area.
  • Academic Skills: The academic skills classes give students an introduction to exam techniques to help students improve the skills of academic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. These classes culminate with students taking the Assessment.
  • Electives: Students sign up to a choice of vocational subjects to enhance their English usage through different topics such as creative writing, business and IELTS preparation.
  • Projects: Students are encouraged to work collaboratively on projects. Each weekly project ends with a presentation evening, during which all groups display and discuss their work.

Note: Exact subjects vary slightly between Oxford and London.

Extras

  • Pocket Money Advice: We suggest students bring no more than £150 per week in spending money (can be stored in our safe). Consider providing a credit or ATM card.

  • Private Transfer Fee: If you arrive or depart outside of the complimentary transfer time, or to an airport not available at your venue, then a private transfer fee will apply.

Requirements

  • Travelers under 18 may need to show consent for solo travel at border control. Please print and sign the provided parental letter of consent for your child’s journey.
