Course Description: UK University Preparation Program at Brasenose College in Oxford

This specialist University Experience Program (UEP) is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to access the best of British university education for 15 to 17 years olds. Our mission is to help students maximize their academic potential and set them on a clear path to success in higher education.

Held at Brasenose College, University of Oxford, this program provides students with unparalleled exposure to the world-renowned academic environment of one of the UK’s most prestigious institutions.

Who is this course for?

This program is ideal for ambitious and academically driven students who want to enhance their critical thinking, communication, and research skills in preparation for university studies or exams. Through a series of interactive academic workshops and structured discussions, students will develop the confidence and intellectual agility needed for success in higher education.

Program Details

  • Tuition Hours: 30 hours per week

  • Language Level Requirement: Minimum Intermediate (B1), Maximum Advanced (C2)

  • Class Size: Maximum 12 students per class (unless otherwise agreed)

  • Age Range: 15 - 17 years old

  • Accommodation: Residential stay at Brasenose College, with students housed in either single ensuite or standard rooms

  • Class Schedule: Lessons take place each morning and afternoon, with scheduled breaks in between. Please refer to the sample timetable for the detailed weekly schedule.

Course Content and Activities

Academic Program

  • Daily Lessons: 30 hours of tuition per week. Lessons will take place each morning and afternoon with a break in the middle of classes.

  • Class Size: Maximum of 12 students for personalized attention.(Unless otherwise agreed)

  • Levels: From Intermediate (B1) to Advanced (C2).

  • Certification: Placement test, certificate of attendance, and pedagogic materials included.

  • Participating in a seminar discussion

  • Predicting the purpose of a text

  • Giving a short presentation

  • Predicting the content of a text

  • Identifying supporting arguments in an academic text

  • Offering and responding to opinions

  • Writing and proof-reading a text

  • Taking notes from a seminar and discussion

  • Understanding ideas in paragraphs and analyzing paragraph structure

  • Writing a descriptive paragraph

  • Research skills and paraphrasing

  • Understanding and referring to sources

  • Writing an introductory paragraph with a thesis statement

  • Seminar listening using compare and contrast language

  • Evaluating topical issues and presenting a for/against argument (debating)

  • Group presentations on problem-solving themes

  • Personal statements

  • Planning and writing an essay paragraph

  • Analyzing models of a comparison essay

  • Researching for and planning an argument essay, and then debating it

What’s Included in the Programme Fees?

  • A placement test upon arrival

  • Towels are not provided, so students should bring their own.
