The University of San Diego Summer English Program offers a rich academic and cultural experience for international students aged 13 to 17. Designed to strengthen language fluency, build critical thinking skills, and provide global exposure, the program combines high-quality English instruction with an exciting range of activities and excursions in sunny Southern California.
Students can enroll in 1 to 4-week sessions featuring General English, or take a two-week specialized course in Academic English or Business English. Each program includes daily morning classes, afternoon activities, weekly full-day excursions, and full room and board in secure, on-campus accommodations.

Course Format:
Classes held on the University of San Diego (USD) campus
20 lessons per week
Average class size: 14 students
Courses can be combined for multi-week enrollment
Open to all levels (placement test on arrival)
A typical day at the University of San Diego blends language learning, California sunshine, and unforgettable cultural experiences.
8:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Breakfast – Start the day with a hot and healthy breakfast in the campus dining hall with fellow international students.
9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
English Classes – Participate in small-group interactive lessons on speaking, listening, reading, writing, and presentation skills. Classes follow a project-based, team-oriented approach.
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
Lunch – Recharge with a variety of lunch options served on campus. On excursion days, packed lunches are provided.
1:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Afternoon Activities & Local Excursions – A new adventure each day! Examples include:
Beach day at La Jolla Shores or Coronado Island
Balboa Park museums and botanical gardens
Historic Old Town San Diego cultural tour
Shopping and strolling at Fashion Valley Mall
On-campus sports and team games
Harbor ferry ride and scenic tours
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Dinner – Enjoy a fresh evening meal on campus with your group.
6:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Evening Social Events – Relax and connect during supervised activities such as:
Pool party and pizza night
Movie under the stars
Karaoke night or talent show
Game night or cultural exchange event
Sunset walks or group games
