Program Description

Spend your summer on the vibrant and world-renowned campus of the University of California, Berkeley, just a short subway ride from downtown San Francisco. This academically focused English program is designed for international students aged 14–17 who want to build their language fluency, enhance critical thinking, and gain meaningful cultural exposure in one of the most inspiring academic settings in the U.S.

Students can choose from 2 to 4-week sessions in General English, or opt for a specialized two-week course in Business English or Academic English. The program includes morning language classes, afternoon activities, weekly full-day excursions, and on-campus housing with meals included.

Courses

English for Future Leaders

An interactive course combining speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with a project-based approach focused on leadership, collaboration, and real-world applications.

• Classes held on the UC Berkeley campus

• Average of 14 students per class

• 20 lessons per week

• Courses can be extended or combined for multi-week study plans

• Open to all levels (Beginner to Advanced)

Daily Sample Schedule

A typical day balances classroom learning with cultural adventures and social fun.

8:00 AM – 9:00 AM

Breakfast – Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the dining hall and catch up with friends.

9:00 AM – 12:30 PM

English Classes – Interactive, small-group lessons focused on real-world communication, presentation skills, and academic writing.

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

Lunch – Dine on campus or take a packed lunch on excursion days.

1:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Afternoon Activities – A different adventure each day. Sample activities include:

• Bike Ride Across the Golden Gate Bridge

• Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

• Tour of UC Botanical Garden

• San Francisco Exploratorium or Ferry Building

• Visit to Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Chinatown

• Berkeley Art Walk or campus scavenger hunt

• Picnic and games in Golden Gate Park

5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Dinner – Return to campus for a hot meal with peers and staff.

6:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Evening Activities – Relax and connect during structured social events like:

• Movie Night or Trivia Night

• Game Night or Talent Show

• Cultural Exchange Night

• Welcome and Farewell Parties

• Evening walk through Berkeley’s vibrant downtown
